April 28, 2025 - Mid-Term Long Form Assignment

Hello everyone!
 I watched two interesting videos about Japan. 

In the first video, I was surprised by how many people live in Tokyo!

According to the video, Tokyo has about 43.7 million people. Only 32 countries in the world have more people than Tokyo. There are many countries in the world, so it is very surprising!

The video also showed train maps of Tokyo, New York, and Berlin. Tokyo’s trein system is much more complex. Every day, many people ride trains to go to school or work.
Even though it is so complex, the trains run very smoothly. I think the people who work to control the trains are amazing. And I think we, the people using the trains, are also doing a good job!

And it shows how well organized Tokyo is.

In the second video, I learned that the names of buildings in Japan are funny!

This video showed many Japanese apartments with strange English names like "Milky Way" and "Apple Heights". In Japan, people often use English words because they sound nice, not because of the meaning. This can make funny or strange names. 
One building was called "Green Town," but there were no trees or nature around it. I thought that was really funny!

Speaking of which, sometimes I wear clothes with English words on them. I choose them not because I understand the English, but because they look cool. I think people who understand English might find them strange or funny. 

Maybe it is like when foreigners wear souvenirs with “Tokyo” or “Samurai” written in Japanese. We think it looks nice, even if we don’t understand the meaning. This shows how people enjoy language as a style, not just for communication.
